ANNOUNCEMENTS

NEW CHURCH SCHOOL & SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS – beginning Jan 2010. These classes will not only study the Word together, but they will intentionally focus on building relationships. If you are looking for a way to grow deeper in the Lord, these classes are for you. You will have the opportunity to ask questions, present thoughts and see scripture applied to life. These new classes will be in addition to the existing Sunday School classes that are held on Sunday morning. Class materials are $10.00 per class and available at the Growing In the Spirit Bookstores.

Help A Child, Change A Life….Volunteer for CWS!
Would you like to make a difference in a child’s life by helping them in their walk with Christ? Do you enjoy working with children and/or youth? Do you have the gift of teaching? If so, we need you and your gifts in Children’s Worship Service! Beginning January 10, 2010, CWS will expand the ministry to the 11am service at the Grand Prairie Campus. Among the volunteer opportunities are Teachers, Teacher Assistants, Registration Team, CWS Coordinator, Nutrition Team, and many more. Additional information can be obtained during the CWS Recruitment Drive which will be held December1st – 31st in the foyer. Volunteer training and certification sessions are scheduled for December 1, 2009 thru January 31, 2010. Help CWS serve, teach and nurture our children in the love of Christ as we continue to grow from good to GREAT!!
Note: Other opportunities to volunteer include the existing CWS 9:00 am and 10:00 am services and forthcoming Tuesday and Wednesday night bible study.

Victorious Disciples Ministry Annual Registration
It's that time again! Registration for participation in 2010 session will begin on October 11, 2009. If you were unable to register for Victorious Disciples in 2009 or if you are ready to sign-up for the next component, now is the time for you and the entire family to embark on the discipleship journey.
Victorious Disciples is a discipleship ministry based on the scriptures in Matthew 28:19-20 and Acts 1:8. Its mission is to disciple Christians for spiritual growth and renewal, to enable them to gain greater dependence on God and live victoriously. The participants study biblical principles, prayer, spiritual discipline and fellowship with other believers. It is designed to help Christians move from knowing the Word of God, to living the word of God. It empowers Christians to face life’s challenges from a spiritual perspective. The four components available are as follows:

To register, please complete a registration form provided in the kiosk at each campus and place the completed form in the ministry boxes at the hospitality desk. Care Group Facilitator Recruitment Announcement
Do you have a heart for discipleship or the gift of teaching? Do you desire to help people grow spiritually and connect with other believers? Then, sign up now to facilitate one of the new Care Groups starting in January. The St. John Care Groups are 6-week discipleship groups designed to aide members in exploring the Word of God, while building relationships within the St. John family. Facilitators must have either completed teacher certification or previously facilitated a Victorious Disciples group. Pastoral Orientation Support Team - this ministry need individuals who are willing to support the Pastoral Orientation that is held every first Saturday of each month. Individuals will be asked to prepare and/or provide a light brunch for approximately 12-15 people. The menu can be the same each month. The ministry is only asked to setup the food. Girl Scouts: The Girl Scouts are coming to St. John. Girls grades K-12 are welcome. If anyone is interested in becoming a girl scout or volunteering or have any questions please contact Rhonda Collier at rhonda_collier@att.net Girl Scouts will be signing girls and volunteers up in the lobby at the Grand Prairie location on Sunday after each service. Registration is $12.00. Please help to make this organization a success.

Small Group Bible Studies - Have You Been Looking for a Way to Develop a More Intimate Relationship with the Lord and Others?
We have the solution! This winter, we are making additions to our Christian Education Department. We will have small group classes structured by age and affinity. These classes will not only study the Word together, but they will have the option to fellowship outside the classroom via planned events. These classes will have group leaders and members who regularly stay in touch and pray for one another. You will have the opportunity to ask questions, present thoughts, and see scripture applied to life. Classes will be held on Sundays at 9:00 a.m. at the Grand Prairie and Southlake Campuses, Tuesdays at 6:00 p.m. at Southlake, and Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. at Grand Prairie. Children Worship Services - If you have a child and attend the 11:00am services your help is needed to support the Children Worship Services during the 11:00am services. The Children Ministry would like to provide a program for children 6 weeks old to 12 yrs old. In order for a successful program that will teach your child the Word of God in an age appropriate setting your support is needed. Volunteers and teachers are requested to attend an informational meeting on Sept 26 at 10:00am in Room 312. Faith Walkers Prison & Juvenile Ministry---Meets the 4th Saturday from 12:00-1:00 pm at the Grand Prairie Campus. Van departs at 1:00 pm to visit Venus Prison Unit for Bible Study, 2:30-4:30 pm. 2nd Friday, van departs at 6:00 pm to Venus Prison for Worship service, 7:30 - 9:00 pm. Volunteers are needed for teaching, preaching, praise team, After Care Program. Ministry also visits the Juvenile Unit in Dallas-1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month. Hair stylists needed. Fresh Start Conference 2010 will be a two-day, power-packed event that will include prayer vigil, guest speakers, vendors and a Ministry Expo. Workshop topics include prayer, motivation, health, legal and finance. Invite your family, friends and the community to attend the event and kick off the year with a "Fresh Start".
The Ministry Expo is an opportunity for ministries to showcase their ministries and recruit new members.   • Sat. Feb. 13 - Ordered Steps Ministry Praise Dance Valentine Pancake Breakfast, 8am-10am, Applebee's. The Ordered Steps Dance Ministry is sponsoring a Valentine Pancake Breakfast. Please join us on Saturday, Feb. 13 from 8-10am at the Applebee's located 4654 S. Cooper St. in Arlington 76017 (off of I-20 & Cooper). Bring the family out and enjoy all you can eat pancakes and drinks for $6. You will receive a side of bacon or sausage with your first plate. Pastor and 1st Lady Davis invite all the members of St. John to join them on Sun, December th @ 5pm at SL for their “Christmas Celebration with the Saints”. Continuing in Spirit of the Season, we know it’s more blessed to give than to receive. So, Pastor Davis will once again “Give a Child a Chance" by giving computers to needy families with children in kindergarten thru 12th grades and college. Applications for this computer giveaway may be picked up at the Information Kiosk.
To qualify for one of these computers, you must submit a 250 word or less essay explaining why your child deserves a computer. The essay and completed application MUST be received no later than Wed – Dec 9th. The chosen recipients will receive their computer at Pastor Davis’ Christmas with the Saints Celebration, again, on Sun – Dec th @ 5pm at SL. The Pastor's Christmas Party with the Saints is a fun time in which Pastor Davis and his family have the opportunity to celebrate and thank the membership for their awesome commitment and service this year. Event highlights include special guest artists, giveaways and refreshments. This year the Children's Christmas Program will also be a feature!

  • Sat. Dec. - Celebration of Life, Love and Legacy, 3-5pm Grand Prairie. Christmas Season is a time of remembrance and sharing the thought of our love ones. While we never stop missing our family and friends who are no longer with us, we can be thankful for love and memories of good times we shared.   • Sat. Dec. - Christmas is for Children Organization Food Giveaway, 8am-12pm Southlake. Christmas is for Children and Altrusa DFW are joining forces once again to collect enough food to fill 1000 baskets that will be donated to needy families through sponsoring organizations. Now through Friday, December , community volunteers will be dropping off non-perishable food items at our Southlake Campus on the 2nd level.
    Volunteers are needed on December to assist with Food Distribution. If you are interested in volunteering, just show up at the SL Campus from 8:00 am-12:00 noon and be ready to serve! This is a huge project! In addition to the food already collected, truckloads will arrive with 1000 turkeys, gallons of milk and bread.
